Design, test, and implement an informal biodiversity educational model that will empower rural and Tribal youth and practitioners to become stewards of biodiversity in their communities, foster an enhanced sense of science identity and belonging in STEM, and hone critical analytical and problem-solving skills that will positively impact their connectedness to the natural environment.

THE OBJECTIVE

Meet with participating libraries to assess the community’s needs, identify the focus audience (Tribal youth and educators, 4-H, Scouts, other youth groups, etc.), and co-create programming tailored to the needs of each community. Implement the programming in each community, collaborating with community practitioners to provide content-specific knowledge, resources, and pedagogical support. Assess the impacts of the hands-on, research, and maker experience model by addressing the research questions.
